Temperature field in solid fuel
Ptáček, Pavel ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with a temperature field in a solid fuel during the combustion process. At the beginning of this thesis, research of available literature was conducted to obtain information about the composition of wood, properties affecting the combustion process, and the basics of heat transfer. Afterward, the temperature profiles of the samples were recorded during the measurement in the observation furnace. The temperature profiles of samples of six different sizes which were made of spruce and beech wood were subsequently evaluated and compared. Based on experimentally obtained data, a mathematical model was created in the OpenModellica software. Finally, the results of the mathematical model were compared with experimentally obtained data and appropriate conclusions were deduced.
Vortex tube
Chýlek, Radomír ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The purpose of this diploma thesis was to find optimal operational parameters of Ranque–Hilsch vortex tube that would give the best results of temperature separation, and to create a numerical model of the device. Firstly, extensive research of current literature was done and analytical model of the tube was created. Then, the numerical model of the vortex tube was designed using Star-CCM+ software. Afterward, best fitting turbulence model was chosen to do the calculation and optimal geometrical parameters of the tube were obtained as a result of CFD simulation. Then, inlet nozzles for the tube were designed and manufactured. Experimental evaluation of the vortex tube and description of its optimal settings form a substantial part of the project. Finally, the data obtained from the experiment were compared to the results of numerical analysis and conclusions were deduced.
Psychologists in the media and their perception by audience
Schubertová, Karolína ; Kasík, Pavel (advisor) ; Vranka, Marek (referee)
aj The bachelor theses named Psychologists in the media and their perception by audience describes the popularity of the field of psychology, the publication of online and printed articles with psychological topics, commentaries of psychologists, and the audience's perceptions of these topics. Further, it describes how the reporting of psychological topics should appear to minimize the biases or report fictional information. The thesis also deals with the ways of presenting psychology, its popularization, and related pitfalls. The theoretical part introduces the scientific background of psychology, the research methods that psychology uses, possible reasons for the appearance of psychology in the media, and the complicated relationship of psychologists and journalists because those two groups have often totally different values and goals. Next, it describes the different parts that psychologists play in the media self-presentation, the presentation of their field, and the pitfalls of psychological popularization. The practical part presents the content analysis of online and printed articles on psychological topics and comments of psychologists on these topics as quoted by the journalists. Next, the practical part explores the perception of the articles with psychological topics. Using a behavioral...
Psychedelic experience and the afterglow effect from the perspective of healthy volunteers in an experimental study: a qualitative analysis
Červenková, Agáta ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Vacek, Jaroslav (referee)
Background: Psilocybin is today the most studied psychedelic substance in neuroscience for its psychotomimetic and therapeutic effects. One of the institutions in the Czech Republic that studies this substance is the National Institute of Mental Health, where a clinical evaluation of its effects and safety is underway. The action and safety of this substance is examined here in terms of acute intoxication, but also in terms of long-term effects. Aim: To determine how volunteers perceive the experience with psilocybin administered in a controlled experimental study environment and whether they have experienced any afterglow effects after the cessation of acute intoxication for 28 days after administration, as well as how these effects occur and how long they persist. Methods: Data was obtained using semi-structured interviews. The research group consists of 20 interviews with 10 healthy volunteers of the clinical study at NUDZ. Interviews were conducted on day 28 after administration of an active dose of psilocybin or placebo. A qualitative thematic analysis of these interviews was performed in order to identify topics within the framework set by the research questions. Results: The results showed that for the respondents, the experience with the active dose of psilocybin was significant in terms of...

Effect of temperature on emergence of cercariae
ŠAROUNOVÁ, Petra
The influence of water temperature on cercarial emission of three trematode species parasitising freshwater first intermediate hosts, was studied in laboratory conditions: Echinoparyphium aconiatum from Lymnaea stagnalis; Neoglyphe locellus from Planorbarius corneus; and Echinostoma miyagawai from Planorbis planorbis. The study provided evidence for increase in cercarial emission with temperature increase and revealed both interspecific and intraspecific variations.
